School Resource Officer

Deputy Jerry Cooksey serves with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department and is currently assigned as a School Resource Officer at Magnolia Elementary School.

Deputy Cooksey recently relocated to Baldwin County from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, bringing with him 25 years of dedicated law enforcement experience. During his career, he has served seven years as a patrol officer, 14 years as a criminal investigator, and four years as a law enforcement administrator.

His specialized training includes service with an Emergency Services Unit (ESU)/SWAT team and certification as a Public Safety Diver Instructor.

Throughout his career, Deputy Cooksey has demonstrated exceptional courage and dedication to public safety. His honors include the Purple Heart, awarded after being shot in the line of duty, and a Valor Award recognizing his bravery and heroism during a natural disaster.

Deputy Cooksey is proud to bring his experience, commitment, and passion for serving others to Baldwin County and the students, families, and staff of Magnolia Elementary School.
